Some special asphalt materials will be used in this project.
Because of the special using condition of Saigon bridge, BMT had decided to apply some special materials for this project as below:
Polimer tack coat: the asphalt work are including the milling up with the 3cm of depth and repave with a roughness layer above. Adhesive strength of old asphalt and the new layer is an important point of this work. We would like to use polimer emulsion in order to increase the adhesion between two layers.
Roughness layer: different with the roughness asphalt in which BMT had used in other projects before, this time, BMT had used the highest quality polimer bitumen, PMB III. Compared with PMB I, this kind of bitumen had got the higher softening temperature, higher stability.
Sand asphalt concrete: we name this kind BMT – sandy – 01 because that they will work as the same way with sand asphalt concrete, with the high flexibility. With some bridges, after the period of running, there will appear some cracking gap, normal asphalt concrete will not bear the cutting force, these crackings will be copied up to the above asphalt concrete layer and make damages on the surface layer. BMT – sandy – 01 is a intermediary material between the concrete deck and asphalt layer, they could disappear totally the vertical deformation from the concrete deck.
The core value in order to produce these asphalt materials is the quality of aggregates. BMT could produce the stone with the plat and elongated standard of 5%, ensure the uniform size and high quality.
In order to prove the high capacity of our products, BMT will announce an insurance for 3 years from the start day of opening for trafic.
